They were one of the main firearms used by the United States Military from 1942 to 1973. THANKS FOR THE GREAT PRODUCT.M1 Carbines are semi-automatic, short rifles first introduced in the late 1930s. All rounds fed perfectly with no stoppages. I ran 100 rounds thru the mags (all mags fully loaded with 10 rounds) at my gun club, with zero cycle problems, and using two different kinds of ammo (Magtech 110 gr FMJ and S Korean surplus Poong-san 110 gr FMJ ammo from 1983). Now the M1 would easily pick up the round and feed it into the chamber with a fully loaded mag. Then I manually stroked the follower fully down and up with the handle of a toothbrush 100 times. Then I pushed down the mag follower all the way with a toothbrush handle, and applied a small bit of gun grease to all four ribs the follower runs against and also all around the perimeter of the follower itself. So I sprayed the inside of the mags with WD40 and let them stand vertically overnight. At first, the mags were very stiff and when even just one or two rounds were loaded into the mag, the M1 carbine would not feed the round out of the mag and into battery when the charging handle was pulled back.
